School principals want the National Inspectorate to be frozen
Тhe union of leaders in the system of public education in Bulgaria suggests that the Ministry of Education turn to the Prime Minister with a request to freeze the activities of the National Inspectorate of Education until criteria with clear objectivity and measurability are drawn up and until a working measurement regulation is drawn up of the quality of secondary education.
„The role of the National Inspectorate of Education at its creation was to support secondary education by making specific visits to educational institutions, ascertaining both the positive things and those that need to be corrected,“ the director of the 119th SU and Chairman of the Union of Leaders in the Public Education System in Bulgaria Diyan Stamatov.
In his words, school principals are the most scrutinized of all heads of institutions in the country. But:
„In order for quality control to exist, there must be a clear, measurable and very simple toolkit that has no interpretative meaning. Currently, in our country there is no standard for the quality of secondary education. This is the contradiction that creates
inconvenience in the entire education system. There’s no standard for anything they’re checking.“
We appealed for this inspectorate to be frozen so that such a standard could be created and only then could this institution start working, explained Diyan Stamatov, BNR reported.
He noted that very well-prepared people work in this institution. The problem, however, is the lack of quality, which is a standard, he believes, adding that quality in education is very difficult to measure.
